This is your opportunity to get under the surface of the greatest wine region on earth – Bordeaux. We explore this historic and famous region top to bottom, left bank to right bank. We will be based near Blaye on the right bank of the Gironde at the magnificently turreted Château Pontet d’Eyrans.
Friday night we spend time with the lovely Baudet family at Château Monconseil-Gazin in Blaye. After a tour of the estate and a tasting of their splendid wines, we then dine in their pre-Revolution Salle à Manger. The beautifully crafted menu, matched to many vintages of their wines, is served by the whole family! This is a unique dinner where the very welcoming family share their home with us.
On Saturday we cross the Gironde where we have a guided tour of some of the famous Margaux vineyards. We visit our Château Mongravey for a tour and tasting with Karin Bernaleau before lunch with her at the Golf du Medoc.
Sunday is spent the town of St Emilion, a UNESCO world heritage site where you have free time to have lunch, shop or just wander around this pretty town. There is also an optional visit to the Monolithic church, the vast, cool and ancient surroundings offer a remarkable contrast to the hustle and bustle and heat of the town.
