This white burgundy is from the appellation of Montagny Premier Cru, and is made and labelled exclusively for 3D Wines' Partners. The vineyard, called Les Resses, was planted over 40 years ago, is just over two acres in size and is situated on a southeast-facing slope opposite the hamlet of Jully-lès-Buxy. On a clear day you can see Mont Blanc from here (200 miles away as the crow flies), but if you can, it's supposed to mean that it will rain the next day!
The wine is made from 100% Chardonnay grapes and is unoaked. It is a greeny-gold in colour and has an alluring nose of new-mown hay, hazelnuts and almonds with a dry, green-fruit taste allied to a hint of almond. It is the soil here - a mixture of clay and limestone - that adds depth and finesse to its good fruit characteristics. The light, refreshing citrussy palate makes it a delicious aperitif but fish, prawns, veal, chicken, crudités, vol-au-vents, light pâtés and goat's cheese are only some of the wide range of foods that may be enjoyed with this elegant, well-structured wine.
This red is made from 100% Pinot Noir from the Andreotti's oldest vines, which are up to 69 years old. Classic burgundian vinification is followed by gentle pressing and 10 months' maturation in barrique before light filtration and bottling at the domaine.
The wine is quite deep in colour and has a classic Pinot Noir nose of bright red fruits and a spicy toastiness from the barrel ageing. The palate is fresh at first then softens out with delicate, supple tannins and lovely vivid fruit flavours of cherry and berry as well as liquorice and spices. It finishes long, with the characteristic Pinot earthiness returning at the end. All in all, a lovely wine with good typicité, subtle oak and delicate style. It can be drunk young or will develop further in bottle for another two or three years.
