The Wine

Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Plantes au Baron
Nuits-Saint-Georges is one of the most famous of Burgundy's appellations and the wine is made from Pinot Noir grapes grown on limestone soil. Our exclusive Nuits-Saint-Georges is called Les Plantes au Baron after the vineyard which bears this name. It has a powerful bouquet of red fruits - notably cherry - a touch of spice, a hint of vanilla, and that typical Pinot Noir aroma that is so much more attractive than it sounds - damp undergrowth. It is fairly tannic, but with its smooth, velvety texture that carries the rich fruit onto the palate, it is an ideal wine to accompany hearty casseroles, roasts and medium-strength cheeses. It also has very good ageing potential and may go on improving for up to 10 years if carefully cellared.
Côte de Nuits-Villages rouge Les Monts de Boncourt
![]()
The appellation of Côte de Nuits-Villages, although it applies to five villages including Premeaux-Prissey, produces less wine than Nuits-Saint-Georges and is one of the rarest of Burgundy's village wines. Our second exclusive wine from Domaine Dubois is a Côte de Nuits-Villages called Les Monts de Boncourt, again after the vineyard site. This is also made from Pinot Noir but has a slightly softer expression for earlier drinking. Its flavours include blackcurrant and even a bit of liquorice on the back of the red fruit palate. It goes very well with grilled steaks, roast beef and hard English cheeses.
