Champagne Cuvée 3D

A high proportion (around 70%) of Chardonnay grapes are used in the Cuvée 3D blend and are sourced from the small but famous vineyards he owns in the Côte des Blancs.  The vines have a perfect southeasterly exposure and grow on the chalky, Kimmeridge soils that this grape thrives on – providing a minerality and liveliness to the wine and giving structure for longevity.  The rest of the blend is made up of Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier which provides a certain fruitiness and richness.  Around 20% reserves from previous vintages were used, which gives a degree of  roundness to the final assemblage. Like all good wine, quality comes first from good viticulture, even in a region where blending from across the region is the norm.  Bertrand sources all the grapes he needs for your Cuvée 3D from his own vineyards – many champagne houses buy in most of their grapes and so cannot always ensure the best quality.  As a dedicated and conscientious viticulteur, Bertrand’s excellent grape quality is always a given.

Your exclusive Cuvée 3D has a youthful green/lemon colour and the attractive acacia scent typical of young champagne.  The palate is fresh and invigorating with a delightful citrus acidity supporting the apple, grapefruit and lemon flavours.  Its fine, creamy mousse fills the mouth wonderfully and the finish is long, elegant and lightly toasty.  Over two to three years in cellar, this attractive youthfulness will begin to give way to a more honeyed, toasty and hazelnut complexity.

Always the perfect aperitif, do try your Cuvée 3D with smoked salmon, cheese soufflés or prosciutto. It also works surprisingly well with something oriental like sushi or Chinese dim sums.
