Domaine Brelière 2007 Tasting Notes
Rully rouge Premier Cru Les Préaux 2005
Rully blanc La Barre 2005
2005 is being heralded as an exceptional vintage throughout France, and in Burgundy it is that rare thing – a vintage that is equally good for both Burgundy grape varieties – Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Our Pinot Noir, the delicious Premier Cru Les Préaux is a tantalisingly deep ruby, with a nose of violets, lilacs, cherries and strawberries. With a bouche of delicate fruity flavours and just a hint of oak, it is as good a match for your summer soirées as it is for your Christmas turkey.
The limestone overlaid with clay of this region is perfect for the Chardonnay grape. Behind the church, on a summer-sun-grabbing slope, our La Barre vines exude terroir. Rich, citrussy flavours from the soil’s minerals, and fruitiness on the palate from the sun-ripened grapes, are matched with hints of butter and hazelnuts from the new oak barrels in which the wine is matured for 12 months. Delicious on its own and a perfect match for fish and white meat dishes in creamy sauces. No rush to drink up either, your La Barre will continue to develop in the bottle for at least another five years.
