Domaine Chevrot Le Bois de Clémentine 2006 Tasting Notes
Maranges rouge Le Bois de Clémentine 2004
Hautes Côtes de Beaune blanc 2004
The wines this year come from the excellent 2004 vintage. After the freakish conditions of 2003, 2004 represents a return to normality - the wines were made under ideal conditions, with moderate heat and a little rain just prior to harvest.
Our red burgundy, the exclusive Maranges Le Bois de Clémentine, shows a return to the classic structure of Pinot Noir. The 2004 vintage has juicy red-fruit character with a backbone of firm tannins and refreshing acidity. It is aged in oak barrels, 50% of which are new, and this augments the tannins and softens the acidity. This vintage shows great finesse and its classic structure will age gracefully for the next five years. We advise drinking your 2003s now, and laying the 2004 down for a few of years.
Our white burgundy is the exclusive Hautes Côtes de Beaune blanc made from the hand-picked Chardonnay grapes from the vineyard immediately behind the farmhouse. This has better acidity than the 2003, and shows buttery-smooth peachy fruit on the palate, balanced by a delicate oakiness. It is ideal as an apéritif and great with fish or white meat.
