Domaine Dubois 2005 Tasting Notes
Nuits-St-Georges Les Plantes au Baron 2002
Côte de Nuits-Villages rouge Les Monts de Boncourt 2002
This year’s wines are from the very good 2002 vintage. A long, hard winter gave way to a warm spring and a dry summer: it could hardly have been better for ripening grapes. The result was a crop with pleasingly high levels of natural alcohol (12-13%) and very good concentrations of natural sugar: perfect for what is regarded as a classic red burgundy vintage.
Our exclusive Les Plantes au Baron comes from the world-famous Appellation of Nuits-Saint-Georges. It was matured in oak barrels, 50% of which were new, and the result is a well-balanced wine with a pleasing level of tannins to ensure that it will age well for at least 5 years - but you don’t have to wait to begin to enjoy it! An inviting nose of fruit and oak gives way to gentle tannins and plenty of fruit on the palate - and excellent length. Enjoy it with meat, game and hard cheese.
Our second exclusive wine is Les Monts de Boncourt rouge from the Côte de Nuits Villages Appellation. For the first time Raphaël used a mix of French, Hungarian and American oak barrels to mature the wine and this has resulted in a rich, full and complex bacchanalian delight with an excellent balance of aroma, dark fruits and tannins: just perfect as an accompaniment for grilled steaks or hard English cheeses.
