Domaine Dubois 2007 Tasting Notes
Nuits-St-Georges Les Plantes au Baron 2004
Côte de Nuits-Villages rouge Les Monts de Boncourt 2004
This year our Option wines come from the 2004 vintage. Burgundy seasons are distinguished by drama – every vintage differing more starkly from those of other regions. This is the essence of Burgundy, which true Burgundy lovers understand and appreciate. In 2004 late-season storms threatened to ruin the crop but, for those who know their métier, a burst of sunshine in September allowed ripening and harvesting before late autumn arrived with drenching rain.
Our exclusive Les Plantes au Baron comes from the world-famous appellation of Nuits-St-Georges. It has been matured in oak barrels, 50% of which were new. A nose of fruit and oak gives way to a powerful wine with gentle tannins, plenty of fruit and great length. Enjoy it with meat, game and hard cheese.
To partner our Les Plantes au Baron from the world-famous appellation of Nuits-St-Georges, your second exclusive wine, Les Monts de Boncourt comes from the equally famous appellation of Côte de Nuits-Villages. Here, a slightly lower elevation and stonier soil imparts subtly different flavours of cherries and strawberries, balanced with hints of toast, almonds and vanilla, from the oak barrels in which it is matured. You could continue to enjoy this for the next eight years or more but we suspect you will find it too delicious with summer barbecues, or cheese snacks by a cosy, winter fireside to hoard!
