Trophy for 3D Wines' exclusive Fleurie
Following their Trophy-winning success at the International Wine Challenge last year, 3D Wines picked up a second Trophy at the 2007 Challenge – this time for the Beaujolais region. Results were announced at Vinexpo, Bordeaux, June 2007.
3D’s Trophy went to their exclusive Fleurie Vieilles Vignes 2005, from
Domaine de la Madone. It was also the only wine from the Burgundy
region to be awarded a Gold Medal. The combination of a great vintage,
superb winemaking by Jean-Marc Desprès and the characterful nature of
the very singular Gamay grape has produced a truly inspirational wine.
Judges tasting notes: “Long, clean nose with rich and expressive grapes
and berries and firm tannins. There is an overall ripeness underpinned
by balanced acidity. The finish is almost creamy with a hint of
raspberry essence.”
Throughout the competition, a total of 9,358 wines were judged from 35 countries; of which only 84 wines were awarded with a coveted Trophy. Only 13 Trophies were awarded to French wines.
