Domaine Chevrot News
Autumn 2007: We’re very glad we’ve reserved next year’s option wine in good time, because the Chevrot’s Hautes Côtes de Beaune rouge 2005 has just received a top rating in the magazine Bourgogne Aujourd’hui. Although Fernand has now retired he was quick to inform us that this is very ‘hypothetical’ and he’s yet to see the difference – except when it comes to his finances. Fernand and Catherine’s sons, Pablo and Vincent, have plenty of new ideas, and are working towards full biodynamic viticulture with ECOCERT status, a process which takes a minimum of three years. They are also planning to build another fermenting room. Their harvest reports for 2007 are very positive; thanks to the warm weather just before harvest the grapes were perfectly ripe and healthy.
Angelo, Pablo and Kaori’s son, now three and a half years old, has started helping out in the cuverie helping bottle the 2006 vintage. He is already asking “is it 1er Cru?”. “Très précoce,” says Fernand.
Spring 2007: After spending time gaining experience at other wineries, Vincent Chevrot (Fernand and Cathy’s son) has returned to the domaine to join his brother Pablo. With Fernand and Cathy now enjoying semi-retirement, the two brothers will be responsible for the winemaking – including our 3D cuvées – from now on.
Spring 2007: The Chevrots have also taken on two more hectares of Santenay vines. We’ll be offering some of their delicious Santenay 2004 to Domaine Chevrot Partners as an extra Option wine this year.

Autumn 2006: Congratulations to Domaine Chevrot for their Maranges rouge sur le Chêne 2004, which won a Gold Medal at the Concours de l’Union Agricole et Viticole. From 2006, they are converting the whole of their 16 hectares of vines to biodynamic viticulture. Fernand has now handed the winemaking over to his son Pablo, although he’s still doing all the hard work in the vineyard looking after the vines. He and Cathy will still be on hand to look after Partners, but you might also see a bit more of Pablo’s Japanese wife, Kaori and their son Angelo.
