Château Mongravey News

Summer 2008: Régis and Karin’s 2005 vintage of Château Braude Fellonneau was awarded a Gold Medal at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles.  The Bernaleaus also informed us that their 2007 vintage en primeur promotion has gone well. Their Château Mongravey 2007 was awarded 3 stars with tasting notes describing it as having "Beautiful strong colour, lovely nose with quality fruit. Full, rich palate with fine tannins. Just the right level of oak; good overall balance. An exemplary success." Their Château de Braude 2007 was awarded 2 stars and described as having "Lots of colour, reasonably strong nose with black fruits and nice, well balanced oak. Full-bodied palate with subtle tannins. Very good."

Spring 2008: At the end of each year, Decanter magazine produces a list of their ‘Wines of the Year’. Out of the thousands of wines tasted rigorously by their panel during 2007, less than 100 were selected for this esteemed listing.  You may not be surprised to hear that our exclusive 2004 vintage Margaux from Château Mongravey (this year’s Option wine) featured in this list. The panel described it as “Bright red berry fruit. Fresh, lively silky-textured wine with vanilla, plum and damson flavours”. It received four stars and was highly recommended.

Autumn 2006: Our new Gold Medal winning winemakers, Régis and Karin, have yet more reason to celebrate, as their 2003 vintage of Margaux has also been awarded a Coup de Coeur in Hachette 2007.
