The
wine: Blaye (red)
Not far from the 17th century citadel of Blaye, our winemakers, Jean-Michel and Françoise Baudet, have worked hard to achieve their dream of creating a new appellation, Blaye, which officially became the Grand Cru of the area in 2000. The château was built around 1500 and since 1894 five generations of the Baudet family have produced quality wine here. Our exclusive wine is a rich, concentrated claret made from 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Merlot produced from the estates’ oldest vines. Our Champagne
Fresne Ducret, has the distinction of being one of a very few
champagne houses whose vines are all situated in the one place. The
Fresne family have been making champagne in the pretty little village of
Villedommange in the Montagne region just eight kilometres from Reims
for seven generations. Our Brut Origine is made up of 50% Pinot
Meunier, 40% Pinot Noir and 10% Chardonnay and has spent three years
ageing on the lees, which accounts for its lovely richness and depth.
It is fresh, creamy and balanced with a long crisp finish – a truly
excellent non-vintage champagne. Our winemakers, Pierre and Danielle,
