About The Vineyards
The best recommendations always come by word of mouth. Robert Warnock, 3D Partner from Liverpool, can claim the credit for Domaine de Salvert which is in the heart of the beautiful Anjou wine region between Saumur and Angers. The entire domaine had been in one family for many years, until in 1997, three-quarters of the estate had to be sold by the winemaker in settlement of a family inheritance. However, for him, for us, and for new owners Georges and Violaine Bureau, we think that things have turned out rather well. We would certainly not have discovered this vineyard without the enforced sale.
Georges is a charming man who is waiting for the opportunity to 'show off', in perfect English, his new vineyard to 3D Wines' Partners. He spent most of his working life in shipping, with a French company that took over the famous Liverpool line Elder Dempster. Georges came to England and lived with his family on Merseyside - where he met Robert Warnock. It was only later that he decided to indulge his passion for wine and, as he says, "fly on my own". Both Georges and Violaine come from winemaking families in Bordeaux so they had plenty of expertise to call upon. After buying the estate, Georges invited Robert over to show him around. Robert, in his own words a 'devotee of 3D Wines', contacted us to let us know that here was an ideal 3D vineyard-in-waiting. Having met Georges and Violaine, we did not let it wait very long.
The domaine is in a hamlet close to the famous sweet white Grand Cru of Bonnezeaux and the 30 hectares of vines flourish on clay-limestone soil close to the banks of the river Layon. Georges produces two exclusive wines for Partners in this vineyard - a red Anjou (Les Noëlles), and a sparkling rosé (Crémant de Loire rosé Cuvée Esprit de Sophie).
