Champagne Cuvée de Réserve
Our champagne is made from a blend of all three grape varieties (Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier), with a high percentage of Chardonnay for finesse and Pinot Noir for character. The blending of different grapes, crafted by the skill and experience of the blender, is the result of Dom Perignon's experiments of 'marrying' different grapes to produce the very best wine. Unusually for a non-vintage champagne, this wine stays in bottle on its lees after the first fermentation for a minimum of three years. It is this ageing on the lees which helps to give great champagnes their character. Your guarantee of quality and authenticity is carried on the label, the small letters NM denoting a true Champagne House as opposed to a co-operative (CM) or an 'own brand' (MA).
Champagne should be fun; its delicacy and flavour add distinction to any occasion. In the glass our champagne is pale gold in colour with chains of delicate, persistent bubbles. On the nose it has an elegant, biscuity aroma layered with soft, peachy fruit. To taste it is fresh and refined and its sparkle cuts across the creamy consistency of a varied range of foods. It cleanses the palate and yet is also the perfect foil for bland flavours. It is one of the few wines that can be served successfully throughout a meal. And of course, it is the most seductive of after-dinner wines.
