Domaine Séguinot-Bordet

Chablis is one of the most famous wines in the world. It is steely and dry and, like all fine white burgundy, made from Chardonnay grapes. Our exclusive Chablis made by Jean-François Bordet at Domaine Séguinot-Bordet comes from vines planted in the 1930’s. The combination of old vines and lees ageing results in a rich, complex wine with a delightful floral bouquet, a spicy palate and lots of ripe fruit, with a lovely creamy texture. It is complemented by his premier cru Chablis from the well-known Fourchaume vineyard.

About The Vineyards

J_F_in_vines.jpg

Chablis is one of the most famous wines in the world. It is steely dry and, like all fine white burgundy it is made from Chardonnay grapes. It is also an expression of the unique character of the Kimmeridgian Clay on which the vines are grown.

Jean-François Bordet has recently taken over the running of the domaine from his grandfather Roger, and we were introduced to him by our first Chablis winemaker, Franck Chalmeau. Franck's wines are so popular that it is only occasionally that rows become available, and so it was that we started looking for our second Chablis vineyard. Searching for new vineyards is great fun and we often come across the bizarre and the surreal: while researching in Chablis we found one vineyard where the winemaker had built a swimming pool on the first floor of his new chai! However, Franck knows what 3D Wines' Partners want from a vineyard (and it's rarely a dip in a pool), so when he invited us to meet a friend of his we had high hopes.

Our expectations were well and truly met and since becoming a member of the 3D Wines 'club' Jean-François has also built a new chai - but he has concentrated on the job in hand and instead of a swimming pool he has designed some special long, flat stainless steel fermentation tanks in which to vinify our exclusive Vieilles Vignes Chablis.
