Montagny Premier Cru Les Resses 2010
Bourgogne rouge Vieilles Vignes 2009

After the near perfect harvest of 2009, the 2010 harvest was typically challenging, starting with   extreme cold in December which killed off many vines in the Côte de Nuits.  A damp spring which reduced yields considerably was followed by a cool summer. However the sun shone mid September giving late ripening. As long as rigorous selection took place, the whites have turned out fruity and balanced with good acidity levels.

Your exclusive Montagny Premier Cru Les Resses 2010 comes from vines planted over 40 years ago in the small two-acre plot behind the chai.   Fermentation and maturation takes place in stainless steel tanks to bring out the fresh fruit flavour and minerality that Philippe endeavours to capture.  Your Montagny has a medium straw colour and an apple scent mixed with citrus fruits and subtle sweet spice. The palate is crisp and mineral with orchard fruits tinged with a touch of honey.  Due to its fresh unoaked style, this is a wine that can make a lovely, uncomplicated aperitif, or would work well with shellfish, baked fish or creamy chicken dishes.

Your Bourgogne rouge Vieilles Vignes 2009 comes from a truly greatBurgundy vintage. With classic winemaking and some ten months in oak barrels, the wine is deepish ruby in colour with a herbal, forest floor nose and subtle oak.  The palate is light, fresh and fruity with red cherry, berry and spice flavours. Good value, old fashioned burgundy.

A fine match with classic Burgundian cooking such as coq au vin, boeuf bourguignon or an entrecôte from the prized local Charolais cattle.  Drink to 2014-2016.
