Mâcon Rouge

Thierry Drouin's red Mâcon is made from the Gamay grape, grown in the same little vineyard as the Chardonnay, which is easily recognisable by the old wellhead from which the domaine takes its name. The Gamay grape in this area produces a wine whose colour can vary, depending on the vintage, from cherry red to deep ruby.

To fully appreciate its strawberry and raspberry aroma and typically spicy taste, it is best drunk when young - within two or three years of the vintage. It has only a touch of tannin, which combines well with the ripe fruit to produce a smooth, fruity, slightly spicy wine, very typical of its terroir.
