Maranges rouge Le Bois de Clémentine 2010
Hautes Côtes de Beaune blanc 2010

The 2010 harvest was business as usual after the near perfect vintage of 2009.  Winter was very cold and restorative for the vines, spring was warm and pushed the development of the vines forward.  June was cool, July was hot and August was mixed.  However, the late autumn sunshine helped ripen the grapes and, with a little sorting in the vineyard, the Chevrot boys were extremely happy with the results.  The vintage has produced fresh, fruity, classical wines.

Your exclusive Maranges rouge Le Bois de Clémentine 2010 comes from a plot of vines situated beside a wood (Le Bois).  The vines were purchased by Fernand some years ago from a neighbour called Clementine. Matured for 16 months in oak barrels, 40% of which were new, it is deep in colour and has a fragrant, rather exotic Pinot nose of bright red and black fruits interlaced with spices and toasty oak.  The palate has vibrant black cherry fruit as well as crunchy cranberry and redcurrant and a creamy texture.  The tannins are ripe and supple and the finish long and savoury.  This style of wine, with fresh, pristine fruit flavours can be enjoyed young but will develop over the next five to seven years.  It is an excellent food wine and will match a wide range of dishes; classic Burgundy cooking of course as well as charcuterie, calves liver with red onion jam or roasted chicken in a chanterelle sauce.

Your exclusive Hautes Côtes de Beaune blanc 2010 comes from a small, limestone-rich plot close to the Chevrot’s house.  A classic, lightly oaked Chardonnay, matured part in oak barrels and part in stainless steel cuves, it is fresh, fruity and mineral.  Melon, citrus fruit and roasted nuts vie with spicy oak and a lightly buttery texture.  It is perfect for drinking over the next three years with a wide selection of white meats, creamy sauces and smoked salmon.
