Rully rouge Premier Cru Les Préaux 2010
Rully blanc La Barre 2010

Vintage 2010 was the first with full organic status for the domaine.  It is an exciting vintage that has produced classic burgundies; fresh, energetic and fruity. The weather was once again quite challenging with a sharp winter, warm spring and a mixed summer, with a cool June, hot and sunny July and variable August.  Autumn sunshine and warmth once again helped with the final ripening of both colours.  With proper sorting of the grapes, the quality is excellent. The only downside is that the yield is very low once again, meaning that quantities are down.

Your exclusive Rully rouge Premier Cru Les Préaux 2010 offers all the immediate pleasure, aroma and juicy red fruit you expect from this vintage. It has very pretty, wild strawberry, raspberry and red cherry fruit and a gentle, ripe, creamy and refreshing finish.  This perfumed and typically expressive Pinot Noir will work well as an aperitif, but will also complement classic Burgundy cooking as well as beef daube, seared magret of duck or game terrine.  Although delicious now, it will drink well to around 2016.

Jean-Claude’s whites are a fine example of lightly-oaked, mineral infused Chardonnay.  The limestone overlaid with clay seems perfect for this noble grape.  Your exclusive Rully blanc La Barre 2010 has been matured in a combination of tank and oak for twelve months with around 20% new barrels used to impart complexity.  The lees were regularly stirred to increase richness and mouthfeel.  The wine is subtle and aromatic at first with a mix of white flowers, minerals and lightly toasted oak.  The palate is fresh, delicate with pure flavours of orchard fruits and lime zest and a core of chalky minerality.  Best drunk young with smoked Scottish salmon or perhaps river fish such as quenelles de brochet.
