Domaine Brelière

The appellation of Rully is in the Côte Chalonnaise south of Beaune in Burgundy. The wines here are amazing value, yet with all the elegance and sophistication of great Burgundy. Rully produces slightly less red wine than white. Our red, Les Préaux, is a Premier Cru made from Pinot Noir grapes grown in a tiny vineyard behind Château Rully, and our white is a special cuvée made from Chardonnay grapes.

About The Vineyards

Jean_Claude.jpg

We have known Jean-Claude and Anna for many years. Jean-Claude is one of the best-regarded winemakers in the appellation of Rully and we were thrilled when he agreed to make two exclusive cuvées of his excellent wines for Partners.

The appellation of Rully is in the Côte Chalonnaise south of Beaune in Burgundy. Lying between the famous Côte de Beaune to the north and the Mâconnais to the south, the region has lacked cohesion; partly because geology has created many small individual pockets of excellence, and partly because this slight geographical separation has meant less coordinated promotion for the region as a whole. However, it is an area we know well, having discovered it over 15 years ago during our search for good burgundy at sensible prices. Hugh Johnson's advice that "both the red and white growths of the Côte Chalonnaise can be good value for money" is even truer today than it was then. Over the years we have made many friends here, and the wines are still, amazingly, great value.
