Morgon La Roche-Briday 2009
Moulin-à-Vent 2010

Your exclusive Morgon La Roche-Briday is from the truly magnificent 2009 vintage.  It was such a great vintage for the Gamay grape that we urge you to try some.

The fine weather throughout the growing season produced grapes that were thick skinned and had deep colours, excellent maturity, sweetness and intensity.  For Bernard, an eminently sensible and down-to-earth man, it was one of the finest vintages he has known and he claims the best since 1959!

Your 2009 vintage is deep purple in colour with an intense and attractive black cherry and strawberry fruit nose.  The palate echoes these fruits as well as having a juicy, creamy texture. The tannins are firm but ripe and the finish is long and mineral.  It is a super example of Morgon, rich and fruity yet elegant.  It will go well with robust pork dishes, a juicy entrecote or sausages. Drink over the coming three to six years.

Your Moulin-à-Vent, known as the ‘king of Beaujolais’ for its power, structure and longevity comes from a small vineyard plot at the foot of the windmill itself.  The vines are very densely planted in mineral-rich soils and average 50 years of age, bestowing power and concentration.

The 2010 vintage turned out to be excellent with a perfect late autumn allowing excellent ripeness. For those that waited to pick, the grapes came in with good fruit and balanced acidity. It has produced classicBeaujolais.

Your Moulin-à-Vent has been aged for ten months in barriques.  It is deep, almost opaque in colour and has a perfumed nose of black cherry, cassis and violet.  The palate is deliciously fresh with firm black fruits overlaid with cream, spice and minerals. It will age well and develop more gamey, almost burgundian notes with time.  Drink to 2015 preferably with a host of red meats and game dishes though it will work well with salmon and swordfish too.
