Riesling Grand Cru Brand 2008
Your exclusive Riesling Grand Cru Brand comes from yet another excellent vintage. A very warm spring provided much optimism for the vigneron and a sunny autumn resulted in one of the longest harvests on record, allowing the noble Riesling to gain full aromatic expression, concentration and elegance. Your Grand Cru Brand has a lovely peach and honey richness beautifully balanced by a lemony acidity and orange peel tang. The stoney finish is taut, long, and lingering. Although delicious now it will keep to around 2017/2019. Try this with seafood, sushi or carpaccio.
Gewürztraminer Herrenweg 2009
This is the wine world’s most extrovert grape variety. It is an amalgam of exotic and erotic with its alluring perfume and sweet flavours of lychee and rose water. Your exclusive 2008 vintage will make a very good match for smoked fish or the localMunstercheese. Although it will age well, preferably drink within five to six years.
Pinot Gris Herrenweg 2009
This most fashionable of grape varieties combines the freshness and complexity of Riesling with the exoticism of Gewürztraminer. The Herrenweg vines come from the flatter part of the Baur’s domaine and produce off-dry wines with a wonderful spiciness. The nose is smokey and minerally and the palate has sweetness of honey, cream and dried apricot and lovely acidity. Drink with rich pork dishes, confit of duck or powerful, flavoursome cheeses. Once again Oriental dishes beckon. It will age well but preferably drink within five to six years.
