Gewürztraminer Vieilles Vignes 2010
Riesling Les Prélats 2010

2010 was once again an exceptional vintage – one of several within the decade.  But Alsacereceived a well-timed wild card in September. “Like in 2007, the last weeks of autumn saved the quality,” claimed André.  The weather was dry and sunny throughout September and October, a good breeze dried out the vines and the warm days fully ripened the grapes, while cool nights preserved acidity. “Despite very low yields, the quality of fruit as well as the acidity levels were just excellent. We’re happy once again.” beamed André.

Your exclusive Gewürztraminer Vieilles Vignes 2010 is one of André’s best wines. It has the classic, exotic, perfumed scent that only this grape variety can deliver.  The palate is fresh at first, then sweet and heady with honeysuckle, lychee and Turkish delight flavours. The finish is superbly balanced, combining freshness with sweetness of fruit. It lingers on the palate interminably.  Well chilled, it makes an excellent aperitif but also goes extremely well with lots of highly-seasoned dishes, including Oriental cuisine.  It also works well with strong cheeses like the local Munster as well as foie gras or pâté.  Over the years your Gewürztraminer has been awarded many medals at the International Wine Challenge, including a Gold and four Silvers –  underlining the success André has with this grape variety.

Your exclusive Riesling Les Prélats 2010 is another great result from André.  It has a lemon and lime peel nose with underlying minerality. The palate is crisp and dry with racy apple fruit as well as peach and pear.  This dry, aromatic wine will develop wonderfully over the coming five to six years – but could mature for well over a decade.  It is a perfect summer wine, delicious with hors d’oeuvres and also an excellent match with delicate seafood, summer salads and white meat dishes.
